The Geomorphometry society biannually awards best paper awards in two categories: (1) the best rated paper, and (2) the best PhD student presentation award, and the Life Achievement Award (to retired members of our society). Both best paper and best PhD student presentation* award are given directly at the last day of conference.
At each conference, registered participants (and scientific committee members) rate submitted papers by evaluating a combination of elements: (a) presentation, (b) novelty and (c) quality of data/materials used. The best paper award is given to the paper that receives the best average rating from 1-5 (a minimum of 10 ratings is required), at the last day of the conference. The best PhD student presentation is awarded directly by the running chair and vice-chair.
*PhD student or MSc level student, i.e., conference participant without a PhD degree.
