Ag Canada is planning to hire a DSM specialist to work on the project in Canada. The salary scale goes up to Canadian $ 100,000. Location: Negotiable within the AAFC network of offices across Canada
Job description: 
Provide technical leadership in implementing a program in digital (predictive) soil mapping in support of regional, national and international efforts to produce gridded soil attribute maps of Canadian landscapes. The program will build on the use of existing legacy data within the Canadian Soil Information System using a variety of technologies and software. Applicants should have sound understanding of spatial analyses within the ARC GIS and SAGA geographic information systems, spatial statistics, DEMs, inference systems, and preferably experience with automated landform classification software. Experience in the use of soil data in biophysical process modeling would also be an asset. Work will be conducted within a team of pedologists to support AAFC contributions to the and related projects and assist with internal training in DSM technologies and techniques. The incumbent will be expected to present results to scientific conferences/workshops and to contribute to publishing results in journal and technical bulletins.
Post graduate degree in soil science or related discipline. Experience in soil survey, and/or management of soil survey databases within a GIS environment. Knowledge of related software and programming languages. Strong interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated ability to work in team environment.
Annual brutto salary: 
Based on experience.
